説明
Use these verbs as one fixed unit. The small word after the verb is part of the verb. You do not split the two words.
In "I look after my grandmother on Sundays," "look after" means "take care of," "my grandmother" is the object, and "on Sundays" tells the time. You cannot say "I look my grandmother after." Japanese often uses one phrase like "世話をする," but English keeps the two words together. If the object is a pronoun, it still stays after the full verb phrase: "look after her."
こうした動詞は、2語で1つのまとまりとして使います。動詞のあとにある小さな語も、動詞の一部です。2つを分けてはいけません。
たとえば "I look after my grandmother on Sundays." では、"look after" が「世話をする」という意味の動詞で、"my grandmother" が目的語、"on Sundays" が時を表します。"I look my grandmother after." のようには言えません。日本語では「世話をする」のように1つの表現で言うことが多いですが、英語では2語をセットで使います。目的語が代名詞でも同じで、"look after her" のように全体の後ろに置きます。
