「~するとすぐに」という表現の使用

B1 英検2級 中級

as soon as + present simple, main clause

説明

"As soon as" means "right after" or "the moment that." In "I'll text you as soon as I finish work.", "I'll text you" is the main clause, and "as soon as I finish work" is the time clause. The verb "finish" is in the present simple because the work is still in the future. English does not use "will" after "as soon as" in this pattern. Japanese often says "仕事が終わったらすぐ," and English uses the same idea, but the grammar is different.

例文

  • Call me as soon as you arrive. 着いたらすぐ電話して。
  • I'll text you as soon as I finish work. 仕事が終わったらすぐメッセージするね。
  • As soon as the rain stops, we can go out. 雨がやんだらすぐ外に出られます。
  • Will you call me as soon as you get there? 着いたらすぐ電話してくれる?
  • She left as soon as she heard the news. 彼女はその知らせを聞くとすぐに出発した。
  • Don't leave as soon as the movie starts. 映画が始まったからといって、すぐに帰らないで。

よくある間違い

Japanese learners often say, "I'll text you as soon as I will finish work." The wrong part is "will finish." Use "I'll text you as soon as I finish work." because the "as soon as" clause uses present simple, not "will."
