説明
English usually follows a fixed order: subject, verb, then object, with place or time often near the end. Japanese uses particles to show the role of each word, so the order can change more freely, but English depends much more on position. If you change the order too much, the sentence can sound unnatural or confusing.
英語はふつう「主語、動詞、目的語」の順で、場所や時の表現は文の後ろに置くことが多いです。日本語は助詞で役割が分かるので語順を入れ替えやすいですが、英語は語順がとても大切です。並びを変えすぎると、不自然だったり意味が分かりにくくなったりします。
例文
- I like tea. 私は紅茶が好きです。
- She lives in Osaka. 彼女は大阪に住んでいます。
- We eat dinner at home. 私たちは家で夕食を食べます。
- Do you study English every day? あなたは毎日英語を勉強しますか。
- He doesn't watch TV at night. 彼は夜にテレビを見ません。
- My brother always puts his keys on the table. 私の兄はいつも鍵をテーブルの上に置きます。
よくある間違い
Japanese learners often copy Japanese word order, for example: "I yesterday went to school." -> "I went to school yesterday." In English, the verb usually comes after the subject, and time words are more natural at the end.
日本語の語順をそのまま英語にしてしまうことがよくあります。たとえば「I yesterday went to school」は不自然で、正しくは「I went to school yesterday」です。英語ではふつう主語のあとに動詞を置き、時を表す言葉は文末に置くと自然です。
