Explanation
Use the present perfect to talk about life experience or a past state that is still important now.
For example, "I have lived in Osaka for three years." Here "have lived" shows a time that started in the past and continues now. "For three years" tells how long the action has lasted. Japanese often says "3年間大阪に住んでいます" or "大阪に3年間住んでいます," but English shows this link with "have/has + past participle." Do not use a finished time word like "yesterday" or "last year" with this tense.
現在完了は、経験や、今も続いている過去の状態を言うときに使います。
たとえば "I have lived in Osaka for three years." では、"have lived" が「過去に始まって今も続いている」ことを表します。"for three years" は「3年間」という長さを示します。日本語では「3年間大阪に住んでいます」と言えますが、英語ではこのつながりを "have/has + 過去分詞" で表します。"yesterday" や "last year" のような終わった時点とは一緒に使いません。
Examples
- I have lived in Osaka for three years. 私は大阪に3年間住んでいます。
- She has visited London twice. 彼女はロンドンに2回行ったことがあります。
- Have you ever tried natto? 納豆を食べたことはありますか。
- We have never seen that movie. 私たちはその映画を見たことがありません。
- He has just left the office. 彼はちょうど会社を出たところです。
- They haven't called me yet. 彼らはまだ私に電話していません。
Common Mistakes
Japanese learners often use the present perfect with a finished time word.
Wrong: "I have visited Kyoto last year."
Right: "I visited Kyoto last year."
For life experience, use "Have you ever visited Kyoto?"
日本語の感覚で、現在完了に終わった過去の時点を入れてしまうことがよくあります。
誤り: "I have visited Kyoto last year."
正しくは "I visited Kyoto last year."
ちなみに経験を聞くときは "Have you ever visited Kyoto?" の形が自然です。
