Explanation
Use "the other" when you mean the remaining one in a set. Use "the others" when you mean the remaining people or things.
Look at "I have two cups. This cup is clean, and the other cup is dirty." Here, "this cup" names one cup, and "the other cup" means the second cup. English shows the difference with singular and plural form, but Japanese often just says "もう1つ" or "残り". So remember: one left is "the other", and more than one left is "the others".
「the other」は、ひとまとまりの中で残っている1つを言うときに使います。「the others」は、残っている複数を言うときに使います。
たとえば「I have two cups. This cup is clean, and the other cup is dirty.」では、「this cup」が1つ目のカップ、「the other cup」がもう1つのカップです。英語は、残りが1つなら単数、複数なら複数で言い分けます。日本語では「もう1つ」や「残り」と言えば足りますが、英語では形を変える必要があります。

Japanese learners often drop "the" or use the wrong number.
Wrong: "One is red and other is blue."
Right: "One is red and the other is blue."
