動詞の後の不定詞

A1 英検3級 初級

verb + to + base verb

説明

Use "to + verb" after many common verbs.

In "I want to learn English," "I" is the subject, "want" is the main verb, and "to learn" is the infinitive phrase. "English" is the thing you want to learn. In English, you must keep "to" before the verb, but Japanese often says "英語を勉強したい" without a word like "to". You can use the same pattern in questions and negatives, like "Do you want to eat now?" and "I don't want to be late."

例文

  • I want to learn English. 私は英語を学びたいです。
  • She needs to rest today. 彼女は今日は休む必要があります。
  • Do you want to eat now? 今、食べたいですか。
  • We decided to walk home. 私たちは歩いて帰ることにしました。
  • He hopes to find a new job. 彼は新しい仕事を見つけたいと思っています。
  • I don't want to be late. 遅れたくありません。
